Japan Resumes Whale Slaughter

January 31st, 2008 · 1 Comment · Whale Slaughter

Now that Sea Shepherd’s ship the Steve Irwin has returned to Australia to refuel Japan resumed it’s slaughter of whales in the Southern Ocean yesterday and today the Asian superpower stands condemned by the world. Officers aboard the Australian Customs vessel Oceanic Vicking witnessed the harpooning of 5 Minke Whales which were then hauled onto the factory ship, Nisshin Maru, for butchering. The Australian government was clearly shocked  that Japan had moved to kill more whales just hours before Foreign Minister Stephen Smith met his counterpart in Tokyo last night. Home Affairs minister, Bob Debus, said “It’s distressing to hear that Japan has begun to kill whales in the Southern Ocean against the wishes of the Australian government and world opinion.”
