The tile of my March 13, 2008 blog was” There Will Be Earthquakes.” I specifically said that the Earth will take care of her species and that Japan may experience an Earth natural healing event because they are killing whales… and so it seems that this has come true with the recent earthquake.

I imagine the Japanese do not see a connection between killing whales and earthquakes, but I do. I feel no ill will towards the Japanese people nor wish them any harm, yet I do believe that we all experience consequences for our actions- positive or negative.

The European Union agreed on June 5, 2009 to take a unified stand against whaling. Environmental ministers meeting in Luxembourg adopted a common position that supports the current moratorium against commercial whaling, sets up whale sanctuaries, and encourages the use of non-lethal methods to collect scientific data. “There is no need to kill whales to obtain scientific information about whales as adequate data for management purposes can be obtained using non-lethal techniques,” said the EU’s Executive Commission.

The European Commission has been working diligently to establish this joint position, and even though the 27 nation bloc is not yet a party to the International Whaling Commission it can still take a strong role at the IWC meeting in Santiago, Chile later this month by using it’s moral, political, and economic weight to ensure more effective protection of whales worldwide.

I believe in focusing on the positive of true nature that is manifested through all things… even people who are harming dolphins and whales. I also feel that it is important to bear witness through my posts to the needless suffering that some people are causing dolphins and whales.

Writing my book and blogging has been positive in that I suggest the solution to ending unneccessary dolphin and whale suffering is knowing one’s true nature because then one recognizes their unity to all life and as such knows the preciousness of the cetacean species.

I have introduced many people to the world of dolphins and whales and they came away with greater respect and love for these sentient beings. I have sent my book to the prime ministers of the nations that are harming cetaceans.

I also know and have written in my book (dolphins to humans on the environment chapter) that the earth is alive and conscious as it is a manifestation of true nature and will take whatever healing actions are necessary to take care of her species and wake humans up.

This includes earthquakes like the one that just hit Iceland as it was a week ago that Iceland announced they were going to resume whaling (see my last blog).

Last year Iceland announced that they were going to stop whaling and now their government has authorized the Icelandic whalers to begin their killing of 40 Minke whales.

This is an about face and a defiant in your face act towards the global moratoriium on commercial whaling. Captain Paul Watson says, ” The Icelandic whaling industry is a criminal operation supported by government lies and corruption. the civilized world needs to boycott all things Icelandic including tourism, Icelandic sweaters and icelandic vodka, which is appropriately labeled ‘black death’.”

This is such a sad state of affairs… that there are still people in three nations, Japan, Norway, and Iceland that have such little respect for whales. As I have said before they are just covering up their own deficiency and lack of value because if they did recognize their own value they would not want to take the life of another sentient being- especially the magnificent whales.

In my book, Messages From The Dolphins, one of my chapters specifically addresses how and why humans are harming the earth’s environment, species, and indirectly each other.

I am not surprised that these nations are still killing whales as many of our human species are still living in the dark ages. I think they are trying to avoid their own dark night of their soul. They may put it off but they cannot avoid it and when it comes it will be even darker because of the unneccessary suffering they are causing.

I sent the prime ministers of these nations my book and guess what … I never got a response… not surprising.

Some people believe that swimming with the wild spinner dolphins in Hawaii is disrupting their living patterns and causing undue stress. The dolphins often spend much of the day in shallow bays alternating between resting and playful activity. They are active for the first couple of hours and initiate interaction with human swimmers then go into their resting mode. More people are swimming or kayaking alongside them during most ofthe day so to some extent it may disrupt their resting pattern, although I have noticed that when they are resting they stay under the water longer and move to areas where they can be by themselves. A possible solution is to allow interaction with the dolphins in the morning and give them their space in the afternoon.

I had a discussion with a person a few days ago who felt that swimming with dolphins causes a lot of harm. I have been swimming with the spinners for 20 years and they initiate and enjoy the interaction and leave when they want to. The pods are healthy and I haven’t noticed any adverse affects. I have found that people who swim with them come away recognizing the dolphins preciousness and often take action to educate others to respect dolphins.

I would rather see people swimming with the wild dolphins than swimming with captive dolphins or harming wild dolphins as many nations are doing ( read my past posts).

I am generally a happy person yet swimming with the wild spinner dolphins makes me really happy!!! This is because in observing them I can see how much fun they are having swimming, spinning and twirling through the water as they lovingly interact with each other. This is the same for us humans. When we get in the water we naturally become playful and happy… laughing and giggling with each other around the swimming pool, lake, or ocean.

Because dolphins seem to always be happy they exemplify our human potential to live a happy life. And why not, as there is so much beauty and love in the natural world, within our families, and among other species to smile about .

This old paradigm of fighting and being at war with one another is a waste of our precious time because deep down I believe that all people, civilizations, and cultures want to be happy and share with each other the abundance of their natural surroundings.

As Meher Baba said, “Don’t worry. Be happy.” I wish you much happiness in life. Scott
