Happy New Year 2009!!!

I have not sent a post for awhile as I have been involved with another project. I am still passionate about raising human awareness about the preciousness of the Cetacean species and have been following the world events that affect their livelihood.

I feel that my previous posts in 2008 and 2007 are still relevant today so maybe I should just resend them…. and yet there is still a lot more to talk about. So I will be posting again.

I recently saw the movie, Whale Dreamer, produced by Julian Lennon. You can rent it online or at Blockbuster. It is a beautiful uplifting true story about Australian aboriginal connection to the Whales.

Two pygmy sperm whales had been attempting to beach themselves on New Zealand shores and a group of people tried in vein for an hour and a half to get the whales to sea. They were exhausted and about to give up when Moko, a well known bottlenose dolphin that regularly plays with the swimmers, showed up and went straight to the whales.

A Consevation Officer, Mr. Smith, who was present at the time said, “I don’t speak whale and I don’t speak dolphin but there was oviously something that went on because the two whales changed their attitude of being quite distressed to following the dolphin quite willingly and directly along the beach and straight out to sea.” He said, ” The whales have not been seen since, but Moko the dolphin, had returned to its usual practice of playing with swimmers in the bay.”

” I shouldn’t do this I know, we are meant to remain scientific,” Mr. Smith said, ”but I actually went into the water with the dolphin and gave it a pat afterwards because she really did save the day.”

Sounds to me like the whales and dolphins were able to communicate with and understand each other and it is nice to have a happy ending for a change.

I recommend Eckart Tolle’s book, A New Earth, and Oprah is doing a free pod cast with him every monday night for the next ten weeks. Go to www.oprah.com

I agree with Eckert when he says that humanity is at a critical point in our evolution in that we will have to stop harming the earth, other species, and ourselves or face extinction, and the way out of our mess is to recognize that we have a divine true nature that is also expressed by other life forms. This is the central theme of my book, Messages From The Dolphins- when we know out true nature we will act with loving kindness towards ourselves and all species.

The Japanese whalers, by killing whales, are demonstrating that they are not in touch with their god true nature. If they were they would recognize that whales are an evolved, conscious, aware, sentient and spiritually awake species that should be honored and treated with respect.

Because whales live mostly under the water (in the water dimension) it is easy for the japanese whalers to keep thier distance, to be objective, to not really know how evolved the whales are because they are not spending any time with the whales interacting with them in their watery environment.

It is by taking a lot of time to observe how another species lives that give humans a general idea of how evolved they are. This is what I have done with dolphins and hope to do with whales… I have spent hundreds of hours observing how the dolphins treat each other and express affection towards one another and I saw that they have a very evolved life and social structure. During and after swimming with them I experienced a hightened awareness of my true nature that was deeply connected to their true nature.

All the Japanese whalers see are a few fins surfacing above the water and because they really don’t know how precious whales are they unemotionally kill them like fish!!!

During the last few weeks I have sent the following letter and my book to the Prime Ministers of the following countries that hunt and kill whales and dolphins – Japan, Iceland, Norway, Denmark, and St. Lucia. Please write your own letter expressing your feeling about illegal whaling. Go to www.seashepherd.org for their contact information and also email this post on to your friends and other dolphin/whale lovers.

Dear Prime Ministers,

I have been interacting with dolphins and whales since 1989 and have come to the understanding that they are highly intelligent sentient beings that have much more to share with humans than their blubber on a dinner table.

I am writing to you with the hope that you will be open to receiving and reading my book, Messages From The Dolphins. I write on 5 subjects – true nature, communication, raising children, the environment, and war. It includes my own insights and that of the dolphins.

I would like to invite you to come on one of my Hawaii trips where I take people to swim, observe, and interact with the wild spinner dolphins. You will be able to see for yourself what the true world of the dolphins is like and then make a determination as to whether or not you want your people to have a peaceful relationship with dolphins and whales or to continue killing them.

For more information about my trips and the world of the dolphins please go to my web/blog site www.dolphinsmile.org. I hope to hear from you soon.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Respectfully,

Scott Olson

While on Maui I went on two whale watching trips. There were a dozen boats leaving Lahaina Harbor 3-4 times daily and every boat was full! There were whales spouting and breaching all around our group for as far as the eye could see. We saw mothers and their calves and males posturing with each other to escort females.

And all the people on board the boats were elated and ecstatically joyful. You could see that they were deeply touched by the whales energetic expression of their vitality, aliveness, and joy. They came away from the trip with a deeper appreciation for and connection to the precious whales.

On February 18, 2008 I swam with and observed a mother, escort, and baby Humpback Whale for about 5 minutes off the coast of Maui. I was kayaking with a friend when we noticed the whales in the distance. We put on our snorkeling gear with the hope that they would approach us and sure enough within a few minutes they appeared out of the vast blue ocean beside and below us.

The baby came to the surface for air near us and the mother and escort were below us caressing each other with their pectoral fins. They were not bothered by our presence and actually seemed curious and, I think, would have initiated more contact if not for a whale watch boat approaching which caused them to move away.

The highlight was seeing these whales express tenderness and affection to each other and curiosity and acceptance towards us humans. When I got back to shore I noticed how I felt more present and peaceful in the moment. I was more aware of true nature manifesting as a delicate sweet tender precious brilliant loving light through myself, my friend, and everything that I looked at.
